It’s bittersweet news for me to share with everyone that I’m closing the doors behind me of being a personal chef in the Charlotte area. While I will miss all the families that have let me into their kitchens and have given me the opportunity to provide meals for their family,  I have gained lasting friendships with my clients and I’m thankful for the experiences I’ve had with each of you.  With this bitterness comes the sweet promise of growth for me to be able to share my passions and experience with a larger number of people so that all of North Carolina residents can Eat Right at home.
For those of you that don’t know me, I want to shed some light on why I’m here:  I’m here because I see a great need in this country to take back what we have lost; and that is connecting to where our food sources come from and empowering people to cook real food again.  We are in a food crisis and it’s not just a shortage of food that’s the issue, it’s the quality of food that’s being produced in our country is affecting our health & depleting our lands resources.
How did we get here? Well,  that question has many answers; and I will be writing and giving special attention to each answer, but for the meantime, here is a short cartoon to highlight how we have moved from the model of the small family farm to that of large agribusiness.  www.themeatrix.com
Now that I’ve shared a quick post on what’s wrong with the current food model; I can’t let you leave without sharing some good news!  The good news is that we have farmers that are working hard to keep the family farm alive and they just need our support!
Here are some great resources to find sustainable farmers in your area:
